MTEL Business Test

The MTEL Business Test is divided into two sections. The multiple-choice section contains 100 questions, and accounts for 80% of the final score. The open-response section asks two written responses, each worth 10% of the score.

The MTEL Business Test multiple-choice questions address six subareas. Business Management is 21% of the score. Accounting and Quantitative Analysis account for 16% of the total weight. The three subareas of Economics, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship and Business Technology each carry 11% to the total weight. Career Development and Personal Finance provides 10%.

Test candidates taking the MTEL Business Test will be asked to compose two open-response essays of 150 to 300 words each in order to demonstrate conceptual and practical understanding. The question may pertain to any of the above subareas. Each essay is worth 10% of the final score, and should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
