The MTEL Dance Test addresses three content subareas in two sections. The three content subareas include Choreography, Dance Production, and Dance Concepts and Skills.
The first section of the MTEL Dance Test offers 55 scenarios with several possible responses. Only one response is correct, although more than one may appear to be so. Questions might be drawn from one of the contention subareas, or might combine more than one subarea. This multiple-choice section accounts for a total of 75% of the final grade.
The second area of the MTEL Dance Test consists of two open-response essay questions. These questions are designed to permit the test taker to demonstrate their depth of understanding regarding dance theory and application. The two open-ended questions are each worth 12.5% of the total exam grade for a total of 25% for the section.
