MTEL Early Childhood Test
The Early Childhood MTEL® test has three content subtests: knowledge of childhood development, knowledge of children’s literature and the writing process and core knowledge in content areas. There are 97 to 103 multiple choice questions that count for 80 percent of the final score. There are two open response questions covering the integration of knowledge and understanding, which counts for the remainding 20 percent of the final score. These open response questions require a well-written, organized analysis of how two or more of the following areas affect to child development: language arts, mathematics, history and social science and science.
