MTEL English Test
The English MTEL® test has three content subtests: literature and language, rhetoric and composition and reading theory, research and instruction. There are 97 to 103 multiple choice questions that count 80 percent of the final score. There are two open response questions covering the integration of knowledge and understanding, which counts as 20 percent of the final score. These open response questions require a well-written, organized analysis of the content of the three subtests.
